Job Summary

The Accounting & Billing Specialist performs a combination of bookkeeping, accounting, billing, and payroll functions in support of MC Fiber’s financial operations. This role is responsible for consumer and internal billing, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate accounting records. The position requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, organization, and the ability to coordinate financial activities to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely payroll and billing.

Essential Job Functions

  • Compiles, audits, and maintains accounting and financial records.

  • Prepares, processes, and verifies consumer billing to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Processes accounts payable, including coding, entering invoices, issuing payments, and maintaining vendor records.

  • Manages accounts receivable, including invoicing, posting receipts, researching discrepancies, and assisting with collection of past-due accounts as needed.

  • Performs weekly payroll processing, including data entry, verification of hours and deductions, coordination with Human Resources, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll submission.

  • Assists with payroll-related reporting, reconciliations, benefit deductions, and responds to payroll inquiries while maintaining strict confidentiality.

  • Reconciles bank accounts and cash accounts; posts deposits to the general ledger and ensures daily and monthly balances are accurate.

  • Prepares journal entries and assists with general ledger maintenance and month-end close activities.

  • Runs monthly and ad-hoc financial reports, and assists with analysis as requested.

  • May assist with tracking inventory items and maintaining accurate inventory records.

  • Works collaboratively with management, Human Resources, and other departments to support payroll, billing, and financial reporting needs.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all financial, payroll, and customer information.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management. *

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll, financial, and customer information.

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Working knowledge of company products, services, and internal policies.

Education and Experience

  • Two-year college or technical degree in accounting, business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of one year of related bookkeeping, accounting, billing, or payroll experience.

  • Willingness to obtain additional training, certifications, or licenses as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to see; hear; talk; grasp; feel and finger equipment to complete assigned job tasks. This position requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee is regularly required to be able to stand; walk; lift; climb; stoop; kneel; pull; and push. The employee occasionally must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computer, phone, printers, light traffic); ability to work in a confined area (i.e. office, cubicle); and ability to sit a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
